A Parting Prayer

June 30, 2026 · Pagan Prayers

Hail to the spirits of those now gone,

We gather in sorrow yet stand as one.

Steady our hearts and guide our way,

As from our circle one departs today.

Mighty Odin, who greets the brave,

In Valhalla’s halls let memory save;

Welcome our loved one to your side,

Where feasting and glory always abide.

Frigg, mother of hearth and home,

Soothe our sorrows wherever we roam.

Wrap us in solace born of your grace,

As loss and tears we now must face.

Freya, keeper of hearts and the bold,

Half of the fallen dwell in your fold;

With fierce compassion, hold them near,

In Fólkvangr’s meadows bright and clear.

Hel, guardian of realms below,

Grant passage soft and slow.

In your shaded lands may they rest,

Among the ones who shared life’s quest.

Ancestors, keepers of our line,

Welcome our departed to enshrine.

Share with them stories brave and kind,

And keep their memory in our mind.

With compassion soothe our pain,

And valor lift our souls again.

Help us recall what once was dear,

And celebrate life through every tear.

As we walk this path of goodbye,

Strengthen our spirits, gods on high.

Our memories shine, our love hold fast,

Honoring journeys that now have passed.

Bless this day of solemn grace,

And all who gather in this place.

Grant us the courage to bear our grief,

And embrace each other for shared relief.

We vow to meet beyond the veil,

Where echoes of joy never pale.

Until that morn, we keep their flame,

In tales retold that bear their name.
